Crops 2014 booked in for December

Planning is under way for one of the biggest one-day events on the cropping calendar.

Crops 2014 will be held on Wednesday, December 3, at the Foundation for Arable Research's (Far) Chertsey site.

Crops is Far's key field event, with attendance growing from fewer than 100 in 2002 to more than 600 when it was last held in 2012.

Crops now alternates with the Arable Research in Action (Aria) event on a bi-annual basis.

Aria, which focuses solely on Far research, with no external sponsors or demonstrations, was launched in 2013, and will return again in 2015. Crops 2014 will provide an opportunity for companies to showcase their products and services to cropping farmers, dairy farmers, advisers, industry representatives, researchers and overseas visitors.

It allows farmers to view trial plots, investigating everything from cultivars to cultivation, and to see and hear the latest research findings from New Zealand and international experts.

The aim is to provide every grower with new information to take away and apply it to their own farming operation.

Crops 2014 will focus on the future of New Zealand cropping, highlighting new technologies and market opportunities for grain, seed and silage. This year, it will have a greater focus on research.
