The price of cheese is likely to rise by about $2 a kg,
butter by $1 or more per kg and milk by 15c a litre following
a recent spike in the price of whole-milk powder.
Dairy co-operative Fonterra said international commodity
prices had risen 95% since the middle of the year and the
prices of milk, cheese and butter on supermarket shelves
would go up next month as a result, Radio New Zealand
reported.
The high dollar had shielded consumers from any rises, but
with increasing international demand manufacturers were now
paying more for milk, Fonterra said.
