Auckland community groups are worried an alleged Australian
pyramid scheme will hit vulnerable families here.
There are plans for seminars in Mangere, Rotorua and
Whakatane but an Australian Federal court has temporarily
forbidden TVI Express from promoting the scheme after 5000
people signed up, One News reported.
Australia's Commerce Commission said TVI Express was a
pyramid scheme which charged $US275 ($NZ412) but its promises
of reward travel never eventuated.
Darryl Evans, from Mangere Budgeting Service, said vulnerable
families were sucked into such schemes.
New Zealand's Commerce Commission warned people to avoid all
pyramid schemes.
