A woman caught napping Goldilocks-style in a house she was
burgling was today sentenced to supervision.
After breaking into the house Vanessa Joy Long, 39, raided
the fridge, ate the food, and drank some alcohol,
Christchurch District Court was told today.
She went into the bedroom and tried on clothes, before
falling asleep in the bed where she was found when the
householder returned home.
Judge Christopher Somerville sentenced her to nine months'
supervision, and told her to do what the probation report
recommended for her health and drinking problems.
He said her drinking had got her into a lot of trouble and
the medication and alcohol had turned her into a zombie who
could not remember what she had done.
He ordered a reparation payment of $1255 for the bedding and
mattress she soiled, and the food and alcohol she had
consumed.
