Police say they are no closer to tracking down gunmen who
forced their way into a Masterton house on Thursday night
demanding drugs and money.
The balaclava-clad men smashed their way through the back
door of the Worksop Rd home just after 11.30pm, where Te Ata
Kelly, 19, lived with partner Tyler Murphy and one-year-old
son Korbin.
There were six other adults and a child in the four-bedroom
house.
Ms Kelly phoned police while the gunmen held her hostage and
beat up her partner.
She said there were three men wearing balaclavas and ski
masks, two armed with shotguns, and another with a hammer and
crowbar.
"They were screaming at us to give them drugs and money," Ms
Kelly told the Wairarapa Times Age.
Ms Kelly hid her face with her hair and used her cellphone to
call police, who arrived a few minutes later.
Mr Murphy was struck on the head and taken from the room
while the other occupants huddled in terror.
He has minor injuries.
The intruders got away with a small amount of cash but were
wearing disguises so they couldn't be identified.
Police have appealed to anyone with information to come
forward.
They are also asking for neighbouring houses to check their
properties for any clothing and weapons that the men may have
discarded as the offenders fled.
