Murder accused Nicho Waipuka will spend at least two more
weeks in custody following an appearance in Wellington
District Court today.
The 19-year-old is jointly charged with murdering Radio New
Zealand journalist Phil Cottrell in central Wellington last
December.
Waipuka was to have sought electronic bail but the
application was deelayed until February 15 because he has a
new lawyer, Paul Piano.
Co-accused Manuel Robinson, 18, has already been released on
bail.
Mr Cottrell died in hospital on December 11, the day after he
was savagely beaten and robbed as he left work after an
overnight shift.
