Getaway car also used in bag snatch

A stolen getaway car used in a robbery in central Auckland has been linked to an earlier bag-snatching incident.

Security guards restocking an ATM at the corner of Victoria St East and High St were robbed at gunpoint by a balaclava-clad offender at around 12.50pm yesterday.

The offender used a stolen car as a getaway vehicle.

Police said the vehicle was taken from Kohimarama on December 17 and used by two people who stole a handbag from a West Auckland Quicki Mart on January 19.

They released photos of the two men taken during the robbery and appealed for any information about their identities.

It was not known whether the two men had also carried out yesterday's lunchtime robbery, police said.
