A severe thunderstorm warning issued for the central South
Island today has now been lifted.
MetService issued the warning this afternoon, saying heavy
rain and hail were due to hit the area this evening.
Selwyn, Ashburton and Banks Peninsula were due to experience
thunderstorms as the storm system moved towards the
northeast.
People were advised to watch out for surface and flash
flooding, and to take care when driving.
MetService advised about 9pm that the warning had been
lifted.
