One injured in Auckland crash

A person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a mangrove swamp in south Auckland this morning.

The car veered off State Highway 1 at Rosehill about 7.25am, a Fire Service spokeswoman said.

The driver was trapped and firefighters had to use a chain saw to cut through the mangroves and free them.

An ambulance spokesman said the person was taken to Middlemore Hospital about 8.50am with serious injuries.
