A fire that seriously damaged a police car at a Hamilton
station overnight is being treated as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to the station about 8.15pm
and arrived to find the patrol car well ablaze, shift
manager, Acting Senior Sergeant Neville Ross said.
"A window of the car had been smashed and a fire started," he
said.
The interior was significantly damaged in the fire and the
car will undergo forensic testing today.
Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses, and anyone
with information about a white car seen in the vicinity of
the station car park between 8 and 8.15pm or who may know the
identity of the occupant or occupants should contact Hamilton
Central Police Station on 07 8586200 or Crimestoppers on 0800
555111.
