A man is dead and a woman is critically injured after a
stabbing in south Auckland today.
Police were called to a house on Great South Road in Manurewa
at 11.24am.
The woman with stab wounds was found at the house. She was
taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition, a
police spokeswoman said.
Shortly afterwards a man was found near a rail bridge. He
could not be revived.
His death was not considered suspicious, police said.
Residents said there was a large police presence in the area.
Trains have stopped on one of the Auckland lines due to the
incident and Veolia said no trains were running between
Papakura and Homai.
