Police are investigating an assault on a 14-year-old girl in
Masterton yesterday morning, the third attack on a teenage
girl in the area in four months.
In the latest attack, the girl was walking along a path which
runs beside the river between a swing bridge and Colombo Road
in Queen Elizabeth Park about 8.30am when she was set upon.
A person walking a small black dog may have scared off the
offender, police said.
In October a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in
Colombo Rd.
The girl told police she was walking alone near Colombo Rd
bridge about 9.30pm and was confronted by a man who pushed
her to the ground and assaulted her.
In August, another 14-year-old girl was forced down a bank
near the swing bridge at the park on a Saturday afternoon.
A youth aged 16 was referred to Youth Aid over that attack.
