A 71-year-old Motueka man is in hospital with serious
injuries to his arms and one leg after he was attacked by a
The dog bit the man as he walked to the mailbox about 5pm,
said Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Tim
"He just walked out to get the paper and the dog attacked
him," he said.
Ambulance crews and police attended the scene.
When the rescue helicopter arrived, the man had lost a lot of
blood and was heavily bandaged, said Mr Douglas-Clifford.
A paramedic on board treated the man for serious limb
injuries as he was airlifted to Nelson Hospital.
He was in a stable condition tonight.
The incident is being investigated by dog control, said
