Disappearance out of character - police

The disappearance of a Rotorua woman eight days ago was completely out of character, say police.

Concerns are growing for Michelle Hoffman-Tamm, a 51-year-old beneficiary who left her Phillip St home about 6pm on Wednesday last week and has not been seen or heard from since.

Ms Hoffman-Tamm had spent the afternoon with a family member, before briefly returning home and then setting off on her red mountain bike, telling her partner she was going to visit friends.

"She had the clothes that she was wearing and no extra clothes that we're aware of," said a police spokeswoman.

Ms Hoffman-Tamm typically kept in regular contact with friends and family, said police. It's unknown if she had money and whether her bank accounts had been accessed since her disappearance.

She is 1.5 metres tall with a medium build and short dark hair.

Anyone with information should contact Rotorua Police on 07 349 9400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
