Armed police this afternoon cordoned off a road in the
Wellington suburb of Johnsonville after a member of the
public reported seeing someone with a gun.
Wellington police tactical response manager Inspector Terry
van Dillen said police were alerted to the incident on
Ironside Road about 4pm.
"Someone called us and said they thought they saw a gun being
pointed outside a window of a house."
The Armed Offenders Squad cordoned the area off.
Police were appealing to the people inside the house to come
out, Mr van Dillen said.
He believed there were possibly three people inside the
property, but they had not been able to get in touch with any
of them yet.
"We're still trying to track down people who live there and
their phone numbers.
"Until we can prove otherwise, we're going to keep the place
cordoned off and keep everyone safe."
Mr van Dillen said if they were not able to make contact with
the occupants, the AOS squad would enter the house.
