Fatal crashes in Waikato and Taranaki have claimed two lives in less than two hours.
One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash in Taranaki this evening.
An ambulance spokeswoman said the two-vehicle crash occurred on State Highway 3 near Eltham, about 45km south of New Plymouth, at 6.05pm.
One person died at the scene and another was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital with serious injuries.
Less than two hours earlier, one woman was killed in a car crash in Waikato.
Emergency services were called to single vehicle crash at the intersection of Duck and Fullerton Roads in Rotokauri near Frankton, at 4.25pm.
Another occupant of the vehicle was been taken to Waikato hospital but in a stable condition and two other passengers were not seriously injured.
