A stockcar driver suffered serious injuries after his car collided with another car before hitting a concrete wall, during a race at Te Marua Speedway in Wellington yesterday.
The crash happened about 8pm.
The man, in his 50s was extricated from the car by the on-track emergency services the man.
He was treated at the scene and flown by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Wellington Hospital's emergency department, where he was being assessed for serious injuries.
