A soldier has been found by his Defence Force colleagues this
morning after spending the night missing on the Heaphy Track
in Golden Bay.
Police were notified shortly after 10pm that the man was
missing after becoming separated from his tramping party
during an exercise yesterday.
Because the soldier was "well-equipped and weather conditions
were good" there was no immediate deployment of search and
rescue teams.
The soldier was found about 8am today by his New Zealand
Defence Force colleagues, police said.
