A 19-month-old girl has suffered deep bites to her face and
other head injuries in an attack by a dog, believed to belong
to her family.
The girl from Tapawera was flown to Nelson Hospital by the
Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter, accompanied by her
mother, at 3.15pm today.
Her facial injuries were "very deep'' but were not life
threatening, said pilot Tim Douglas-Clifford.
She was treated by an onboard paramedic.
"She was bandaged up. She was in shock and she was obviously
stressed,'' he said.
It was not clear what breed of dog attacked her.
