A 17 year-old Masterton youth who stole a motorbike and later
crashed it into its owner, causing injuries including the
loss of a finger, was sentenced to 100 hours' community work
in Masterton District Court today.
Jason Hart pleaded guilty to breaking into a garage and
stealing the motorbike from his friend Briggs Pilkington and
also to dangerous driving causing injury.
On September 25, Hart drove up behind Mr Pilkington in the
park and crashed into him, causing extensive injuries to Mr
Pilkington's right hand, cuts to his legs and facial
bruising. A finger had to be reattached in hospital.
