A Wellington man charged with the manslaughter of a Kapiti
Coast teenager has been remanded until next week, when he is
expected to make a plea to the charge.
In August 17-year-old Izak Millanta was found by police
unconscious in a carpark near the Coastlands shopping area.
He died in Wellington Hospital the following day.
Manawanui Rerewhaitarangi Stewart, 25, from Titahi Bay, who
has been charged with his manslaughter, appeared in Porirua
District Court today.
He was remanded in custody until next Friday.
Another man accused of killing a Kapiti Coast man had his
appearance delayed until later in the month.
Tristim Eastham has been charged in relation to the death of
20-year-old Sean Strongman-Lintern.
Mr Strongman-Lintern, a young rugby league player from the
area, died after a fight outside the Kapiti Lights Complex
last month.
His death came five weeks after Izak Millanta died near the
same complex.
The men knew each other, playing for the same league team,
and Mr Strongman-Lintern reportedly tried to help Izak on the
night of his death.
