Search continues for missing hunter

The hunting companions of an 85-year-old man missing in the Nelson Lakes National Park since Monday have joined the search for him.

David "Roy" Marston, of Feilding, was hunting near Lake Rotoroa with five other hunters but failed to meet them as planned at a designated point at 5pm on Monday.

Search teams were searching the hills around the lake today, after search teams, including a dog team and helicopter failed to find Mr Marston yesterday.

Search co-ordinator Sergeant John Maxwell said the teams were searching systematically and two extra teams, along with some of Mr Marston's hunting companions, had joined the search today.

Police said Mr Marsden was a very experienced and fit man who was well-equipped.
