Police swoop on gang houses in BOP

Known Mongrel Mob houses in Maketu were at the centre of police drug raids this morning.

Members of the police organised crime office took part in a major operation at three Maketu houses previously reported to be owned by Valentine Barclay Nicholas, leader of the local Mongrel Mob chapter.

Bay of Plenty police district communications manager Kim Perks said six search warrants relating to drugs had been executed in Maketu and two in Te Puke this morning.

A man and a woman had been arrested.

She said the operation was ongoing and further details would be released later today.
