Police have appealed to the public to help identify a man who
tried to abduct an 8-year-old girl in the Auckland suburb of
Mt Roskill.
The girl was walking on Stoddard Rd, with her 14-year-old
sister and younger brother towards May Rd, on December 9 when
they were followed by a man in a car, who then stopped and
approached them.
A police spokeswoman said the man -described as Indian, about
30-years-old, of average height and medium build - first
demanded they get into his car, and then got out of his
vehicle and grabbed the young girl.
"Her sister intervened and the man got back into his car and
drove off along May Rd towards Richardson Rd. He was wearing
a light blue long-sleeved business shirt with dark blue
stripes, black pants and sunglasses."
Anyone with information about the incident should contact
Detective Matthew Welch at Avondale Police on 09 820 5776 or
e-mail matthew.welch@police.govt.nz.
Anonymous callers can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
