A man had to be helped from his central Rotorua home after
fire broke out.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to a house on
Pererika St about 4pm yesterday, after reports of a fire at
When The Daily Post arrived at the scene a man was being
taken from the Pererika St house by two police officers. He
lay down on the pavement before police and paramedics placed
him into the back of an ambulance.
Cordons were briefly put in place at the intersection of King
St and Pererika St.
The house is down a long driveway next to a set of shops on
Pererika St. It also backs on to the Ranolf St medical
A fire truck was parked in the medical centre car park and
water hoses were placed over a fence into the man's property.
Several people had gathered at the scene to view proceedings.

He said there was no indication of a fire and the first he
knew of the event was when police and fire crews arrived.
The man's dog was taken away by the Rotorua District
Council's Animal Control team.
Police officers and firefighters at the scene would not
comment to The Daily Post.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
