A young woman was attacked by an intruder in her Wainuiomata
home in the early hours of this morning.
Police say the woman was alone at the time of the attack and
the incident was sexually motivated.
The unknown male entered her Wainuiomata Road home between
4am and 5.15am. She was approached, woken then sexually
assaulted. He then left and is thought to have fled on to
Wainuiomata Road.
Police conducted a thorough forensic examination of the
property today and hope it will provide information to help
identify the assailant.
They have not ruled out the possibility the man is local and
familiar with the area and the women's movements.
Detective Sergeant Richard Orr of Hutt Valley CIB wanted to
hear from anyone with information on the attack or who may
have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in or around the
Wainuiomata Road and Reading Street area between 4am and
5.15am.
Anyone with information can phone 04 5272374 or contact Crime
Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
