Fire units are fighting a grass fire in Hawke's Bay that
threatened several homes.
Families fought flames with spades, garden hoses and feet to
protect their Havelock North lifestyle-block homes.
Fifteen fire units went to the Lane Rd grass fire on steep
hills on the outskirts of Havelock North.
About 4ha of knee-high grass was burned in strong wind, with
flames coming within 30m of two homes and threatening others.
