A pedestrian wearing dark clothing and walking in a rural
area of Levin has been struck and killed by a taxi in the
early hours of this morning.
Levin police said the 29-year-old man was walking west on
Hokio Beach Road, an area with little street lighting, when
he was hit by the taxi at about 2.15am.
The taxi had been travelling west with a fare on board
The pedestrian died at the scene and the taxi driver
sustained minor injuries.
There were no other vehicles involved.
