The search has been called off for missing Palmerston North
tramper Alastair Levy, who disappeared more than a week ago
in the Kahurangi Ranges near Nelson.
The 54-year-old experienced tramper, was last heard from on
December 23 after reaching the summit of Mt Owen, in the
park's southern section.
An aerial search of the Castle Basin and bluff areas was
completed yesterday afternoon, but there was no sign of him.
Ground crews completed their search last week.
A police spokesperson said no further plans had been made for
teams to continue looking for Mr Levy.
"Any further search will be dependent on information coming
forward."
Mr Levy's brother Graham told APNZ the family were not
planning to conduct their own search.
