Police are searching for two missing trampers who were
expected back from a trip in the Ohau area in the South
Island four days ago.
Detective Warren Duncan said a helicopter would join the
search today in an attempt to find the exact location of the
couple, a 40-year-old man and 37-year-old woman.
A relative reported the pair overdue yesterday and police
found their vehicle in the South Temple car park.
Mr Duncan said there were no "immediate concerns for their
safety" but river levels in the area were "extremely high".
Rivers will remain high for the next few days and the
trampers will not be able to walk out themselves, Mr Duncan
said.
