A six-year-old boy has been rushed to Tauranga Hospital after
he was run over by a trailer in Te Puke.
The boy had been with family members at the Manoeka Rd
property when a trailer wheel was understood to have run over
his head at 4pm today (Fri).
Police northern communications Inspector Willie Taylor said
police attended the incident with ambulance staff.
"The patient, a male six-year-old, has been taken to Tauranga
Hospital where he's being described as in a serious
condition," Mr Taylor said.
Mount Maunganui St John ambulance team manager Gary Bishell
said the boy had been travelling on the back of a 4WD that
was towing a trailer.
"He fell off the 4x4 and was run over by the trailer and
taken to hospital," Mr Bishell said.
The boy appeared to have suffered moderate injuries when
ambulance staff arrived to take him to hospital, Mr Bishell
said.
