A suspicious device found at a Tawa service station has been
taken apart by experts and found not to be explosive.
Police were alerted to the item just after 9.30pm yesterday
by employees of the service station on the corner of Main Rd
and Tawa St.
It was made up of several electrical wires.
The Fire Service was put on standby and trains were stopped
in the area of the device as it was considered suspicious.
Just before 2am today the NZ Defence Explosive Ordnance
Disposal Squadron deconstructed the device at the scene and
confirmed it was not explosive.
