Waihi stabbing: Person who handed in knife comes forward

The person who handed a knife to a security guard on Thursday after Murray Wilkinson was fatally stabbed at Waihi Beach has come forward.

Police have been appealing for the person who handed in the knife to come forward, and confirmed today the person had done so.

Mr Wilkinson was fatally stabbed outside a caravan parked in the driveway of a Waihi Beach home when he went to investigate a noise outside early on Tuesday morning.

The 64-year-old died in Waikato Hospital on Thursday from severe injuries to his head and neck.
