A forestry worker was seriously injured when the skidder he
was operating rolled more than 50 metres down a steep hill at
a logging site in Marlborough today.
The 47-year-old Nelson man lost control of the skidder -
which is used to haul felled trees - at the edge of a road
near Canvastown about 1.30pm.
He suffered multiple serious injuries as the skidder rolled.
The man was stabilised by St John ambulance staff and an
intensive care paramedic from the Nelson Marlborough Rescue
Helicopter, which was able to land at the forestry skid site.
He was airlifted to Nelson Hospital.
