A three-storey house in Akaroa has been extensively damaged in a fire overnight.
Little River and Akaroa fire crews attended the blaze in Onawe Flat Rd just after midnight, which was "well involved" when they arrived, said Southern Fire Communications shift manager Lyn Crosson.
The fire started in the property's garage and spread to the house.
No-one was inside at the time.
The fire is not believed to be suspicious, said Ms Crosson.
