Four young Gisborne men, including three brothers, have been
further remanded on bail after appearing in court today on
serious charges following a vehicle swap that went wrong last
week.
Brothers Jason Peter Broughton, 22, Riki Wayne Broughton, 17,
Steven Gerard Broughton, 20, and Roger Charles Christian
Tupa, 20, appeared in Gisborne District Court this morning
before a registrar. They will reappear on February 8.
They are facing several charges including kidnapping,
aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Bail conditions include to reside at certain addresses, 7pm
to 7am curfew, not to enter Rotorua or contact the
complainant.
Three were bailed to Gisborne addresses and one to
Wellington.
The charges follow an incident last Wednesday in Rotorua
where it is alleged by police that the four young men
demanded, at gunpoint, the return of a vehicle they had
swapped after making contact on Trade Me.
