A young Christchurch woman who fell out of a moving car early
yesterday remains in intensive care and is unable to tell
police what happened.
The 21-year old was taken to hospital by shocked friends who
were in the car with her.
Detective Sergeant Al Lester says the woman "inappropriately
placed herself" out of the passenger's window about 1.30am
yesterday.
She fell on to the road and suffered serious injuries, he
said.
"The people whose car she fell out of picked her up and
delivered her to the A&E department," Mr Lester said.
"Police later found out about it and have inquired into it."
Police are still waiting to speak to the woman, and described
her injuries as "not life threatening at this point".
Mr Lester admitted he didn't know exactly where in
Christchurch the accident happened.
The driver has been spoken to by police. No charges have been
laid so far, but Mr Lester said: "It's being discussed at
this point."
