A large fire was this morning tearing through gorse and grass north of Auckland.
Firefighters were called to the blaze on Okahukura Rd, Tapora, west of Wellsford, about 11pm.
Fire Service northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the fire was covering about 2ha and moving about 150m/h.
It is burning through 2m-high gorse and pampas grass, he said.
Two helicopters, as well as ground crews, are at the scene.
