Woman injured in cliff plunge

A woman in her 50s was knocked unconscious and suffered a suspected broken arm when she fell down a cliff in Whangarei this morning.

The incident happened at the Treasure Island Caravan Park in Pataua South about 10.45am.

It appeared she had fallen, was knocked unconscious and suffered a fractured arm.

Fire Northern Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said it was unclear how far down the cliff the woman had fallen.

A team had responded and ambulance crews and a rescue helicopter were dispatched.

The woman walked out by herself and was then taken to hospital.
