Mistakes with the Novopay payroll system have continued, a
report from PricewaterhouseCoopers showed today.
Minister in charge of Novopay Steven Joyce released figures
today for the latest pay period showing 447 schools
complained about 1479 mistakes with staff pay.
The PwC reported showed there were 777 staff were notified as
not paid, 231 were overpaid and 471 underpaid.
Mr Joyce said there were 3978 more staff covered in this pay
period than in the previous pay period in which 1662 staff
were paid incorrectly.
Mr Joyce said there were early indications there would be
similar levels of errors recorded with pay period 25, due
next week.
"We are continuing to see huge number of transactions in
every pay period. The seasonal increase in new starts
alongside the substantial re-work required in each pay period
places considerable pressure on the pay system."
Mr Joyce said 78 software defects had been resolved with
Novopay.
A second software release, planned for three weeks' time, is
scheduled to resolve 140 bugs, according to the minister.
Mr Joyce said he expected to receive a technical review from
reviewer Murray Jack by the end of the week.
