A man and two children injured in a bus crash in Auckland
yesterday remain in a stable condition.
The injured male driver and child passengers, who suffered
broken legs, were taken to Middlemore Hospital following the
crash in Manurewa that killed an 86-year-old male passenger.
The Howick & Eastern bus driver lost control and crashed
into a tree a few metres in front of a house on Hill Rd just
after 3pm.
Howick & Eastern Buses general manager Sheryll Otway said
yesterday it was not yet known what caused the crash.
The driver was "very experienced" and has been with the
company for seven years, said a Howick & Eastern Buses
spokeswoman.
An investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing, she
said.
