An assault on an elderly couple in Christchurch yesterday has
prompted an investigation by police who are seeking a
59-year-old who they believe has "vital information".
A man, 72, and a woman, 80, suffered serious injuries in the
assault in St Martins yesterday afternoon.
The couple remain in hospital in a stable condition but have
been significantly traumatised by the incident and receiving
support from family and friends, said Detective Sergeant
Michael Ford.
Police are seeking Christchurch man Douglas James Archer, 59,
in relation to the attack, saying they believe he has key
information.
He is described as a male European, 175cm tall, and of thin
build.
Mr Archer is believed to be travelling in a 1996 Honda Accord
LXI sedan, with the registration UJ7255.
He should not to be approached, said Mr Ford.
