Firefighters have contained a blaze at Carter Holt Harvey's
largest pulp and paper mill in Waikato this morning.
Tokoroa volunteer firefighters were called to the fire in the
second storey of a building at the Kinleith Mill about
4.20pm.
Fire Service northern communications spokeswoman Nicole
Bernard said the mill's firefighters were using a smothering
procedure to contain the fire.
"At that stage it was just the Kinleith Mill fire appliance
on scene, then they stated the fire was spreading ... and
asked for further resources."
Tokoroa volunteer firefighters were called in to help tackle
the blaze.
Ms Bernard said the fire was safely contained and
extinguished by 6.10am.
The Kinleith Mill is Tokoroa's largest employer, and is the
largest of Carter Holt Harvey's four pulp and paper mills.
