There is more traffic chaos on Auckland's roads as thousands
flock to today's Pasifika Festival and the Kumeu Show.
A crash between a motorcycle and 4WD vehicle on the Bombay
Hills has caused traffic to be backed up as far as afield as
Pokeno.
A person is in a serious condition after the crash and has
been taken to Middlemore Hospital in south Auckland.
A police spokesman said several lanes were blocked due to the
crash.
Motorists were asked to remain patient while police cleared
up the scene and the serious crash unit carried out their
investigation.
The Pasifika Festival, which begins in Auckland's Western
Springs Park began at 10am today, is expected to draw
thousands of locals and visitors from around the country.
The Kumeu Show, one of the country's largest rural
field-days, also began this morning.
On Thursday, Auckland experienced its worst traffic gridlock
in years caused by an extra squeeze of pressure on a
stretched transport network after a serious crash closed all
four southbound lanes of the main motorway out of town.
