Darnell Kere Tupe, 34, was paroled in April last year with a curfew and residential restrictions.
He was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment for manslaughter and aggravated robbery for his part in the December 2001 killings at the Mt Wellington-Panmure RSA.
Tupe waited in the car but took off early as William Bell killed three people and bashed part-time accountant Susan Couch so badly she nearly died.
Tupe is now facing charges of injuring with intent to injure and driving while disqualified, Radio New Zealand reported.
The Parole Board called Tupe back to prison on January 23 and will meet tomorrow to decide whether he should remain in prison until the end of his sentence.
His sentence was due to end on December 14 this year.
Tupe had previously been denied parole three times.
In its decision to release Tupe, the Parole Board said it was satisfied he posed "no undue risk to the safety of the community".
His parole conditions had included staying at an approved address, a curfew, counselling and an order not to contact his co-offender or any victims of his offending.
