Police have launched a search for a 34-year-old Auckland man who was last seen off Northland's Uretiti Beach about 5pm yesterday.
Department of Conservation staff at a campground raised the alarm after they noticed his clothing and car had not been touched an hour later.
It is believed he had gone for a swim.
An IRB did a sweep of the shoreline last night and again this morning but the man was not found.
A search and rescue team were preparing to scour the beach today.
