A search at a Northland beach for a missing swimmer presumed
drowned has been suspended for the evening.
Rescuers will reconsider in the morning how to approach the
search operation for 34-year-old Alexy Ivanov of Auckland who
went missing at Uretiti Beach yesterday.
Mr Ivanov was last seen entering the water about 5pm.
Department of Conservation staff at a campground alerted
police after noticing his clothing and car had not been
touched in an hour.
A two-day search of the area, which has included a
helicopter, quad bikes and a 4WD vehicle was suspended for
the evening about 6pm.
