Two men accused of beating a man with iron bars in a home
invasion in Upper Hutt yesterday have been remanded in
custody.
A 27-year-old man suffered a suspected broken arm and
bruising when he was attacked at his home in Clouston Park Rd
about 4.30pm yesterday.
Police said two men entered the man's house and beat him with
iron bars.
The offenders left in a car but were stopped shortly
afterwards by a nearby police patrol.
Upper Hutt men Joshua Keith Ayling, 24, and Lance Paul
Collins, 30, were remanded in custody when they appeared in
Lower Hutt District Court this morning.
The men entered no plea to charges of injuring with intent to
cause grievous bodily harm and entering a property with a
weapon.
They are due to reappear in court on Wednesday.
Police said yesterday that more serious charges could be laid
after they had finished speaking to witnesses.
