A man was killed this afternoon when he was hit by a passing
truck while getting out of a car.
Police said the man was a passenger in a car that had pulled
over to the side of Pound Rd, in the Yaldhurst area outside
of Christchurch around 12.10pm.
It's believed he had just stepped out of the vehicle when it
was hit by a small truck travelling south.
He was confirmed dead at the scene by ambulance staff.
Police said no further details of the crash were available
and the victims identity had not yet been released.
Nobody else was believed to be injured, although the driver
of the truck was taken to hospital by ambulance for
assessment.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital by a family
member for assessment.
