Reports of shooting in Auckland

Police are speaking to residents at a house on Auckland's North Shore after neighbours reported a shot was fired.

The Armed Offenders Squad was deployed to Stott Avenue at about 4.30pm today after a neighbour called 111.

A police source said a group of people had arrived at the property just before the 111 call.

A witness said the police Eagle helicopter was circling Birkenhead College for about 45 minutes.

Three men were seen handcuffed and on the ground outside the house.

Police would not say whether the incident was drug-related. However, they confirmed the situation was "contained" and the public safety was not an issue.
